Gateway to Business with Japan

Dr. Monika Lubitz was raised bi-lingually in Germany with her mother from Great Britain and her German father.

She completed her studies of Japanese language and culture, social anthropology and religious studies at Ludwig-Maximilians-University in Munich, Germany.

During her graduate studies she spent more than five years in Japan to do research for her Ph. D. thesis. During that stay she passed the the  Japanese Language Proficiency Test Level 1 (highest level) in 1995.

After returning to Germany in 1996 she begann interpreting and translating the language pairs German – Japanese and English – Japanese as a free-lancer.

From autumn 2005 to spring 2006 she also took courses in note taking techniques and gained some practical experience of conference interpreting from a booth at the institute of translation, language and cultural studies of Johannes-Gutenberg-University of Mainz in Germersheim.

In the year of 2008 she enhanced her skills at a special seminar for Japanese interpreters (consecutive interpreting) at the University of Heidelberg.
